About Nicole
Nicole Marie Therese Stava was born in Switzerland, where she lived with her family, until they moved to Czech Republic in 1995. Her parents always collected arts and today she is taking care of her family collections of Old Masters, Classic Modern and Contemporary Art, their Furniture Collection and the preservation of the family owned cultural heritages in Czech Republic and Switzerland. Beside that, they run over 7100 m2 exhibition spaces in South Bohemia, hotels, a golf course and event location, all of that at their Bechyne Estate. There they hold weddings, corporate events and concerts. Art and culture became part of her life very early on.
Nicole's first real experience with the art market was continue reading
during her first internship in a private commercial gallery in Ascona, Switzerland. She was 18 and it was there, when she decided to aim for a career in the art market. During her undergrad studies in Prague and Geneva in Politics and Social Sciences, she was lucky to be at the right time at the right place. Nicole met her future boss and colleague than, who asked her if she would like to join the international auction house Christie’s, as a business getting consultant for Czech Republic. It was a great honor to her and with 23 years old, she became the youngest Christie’s consultant world wide. Nicole soon professionalized and extended the auction house’s business services from Prague, throughout the region of Central Europe. After further encompassing her skills to the Christie’s Vienna office, Nicole decided to finish her graduate studies at King’s College in London, with MA degree in Cultural and Creative Industries, specialized in the International Art Market.
In 2009 it was time to move on and Nicole became an independent consultant to Christie’s for another eight years, allowing her to set up her current business, in the mean time. Still, she is in very close and exclusive business cooperation with the international auction houses, especially Christie’s and Sotheby’s. Her expertise lays in auction sales and purchases, allowing her clients to chose from the best services and business conditions at auction.
She is also passionate about private sales, which means that if a client wishes so, the business is closed without auction participation. Nicole is not an art historian nor expert, but a so called business getter, which allows her to stay above all artist categories and periods, which is a definitive advantage for her clients, because her business ranges very broad from old masters to contemporary fine art and from watches to decorative art.
Very early in her career Nicole became responsible for and played a key role in major trades of art works that reached multiple million sales levels, including artists like Pablo Picasso, Juan Miro, Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter, Anish Kapoor, Zhang Xiaogang, Peter Doig and many others.
Established art and the secondary market are in her main focus, nonetheless she supports living and emerging artists by introducing them to established collectors, gallerists but also individuals, who are just starting to think about buying art for the first time.
