Nicole Stava Bechyne

A Flashback to 2002.

My first exhibition that I curated was a show on Pablo Picasso's ceramics and prints. It took place in the castle granary, on the so called "guest floor", where we hosted external private galleries and artist groups to present shows during the summer season. From almost all exhibitions that took place at the granary since 1998, we bought works of art from contemporary artists, which built the foundation to our family collection of Czech modern and contemporary art. All Picasso works that were shown at the 2002 exhibition came from a private collection in Switzerland and I shipped it all in my personal car to Bechyne.

Portrait of a lady with a Picasso. Nicole Stava and her flight through the world of art

Nicole Stava. The woman of this surname was surprised that someone wanted to write about her. Yes, the investment issue would miss the former youngest boss of the prestigious Christie’s auction house for Central Europe. It would be possible to omit the owner of the Bechyně estate, who later became independent in the art business and has great credit in the field. All this could be missed. But it would be stupid.

With investing in general, and therefore also with investing in art, ... (read more)

Summer Newsletter / The art world has a lot to offer, despite the pandemic.

The past few months I have been travelling as much as I could, given the travel restriction and family life of course. My company is now handling the sale of a very exclusive and large art collection for which we are looking for a new owner. Despite business, I always tend to combine work trips with art related visits of galleries, museum, studios and related sights. You can read the whole article here.

On May 18, 2021, a TV show was broadcast on national TV NOVA Plus in the program called Weekend. It had 1.3 million views the first evening it aired. Thank you Nova that I had the opportunity to participate in the show and that the TV crew visited me at home at castle Bechyně. I was quite nervous, but they made a very tasteful, clever and funny show, which I'm very happy about! Skip to minute 11 and enjoy the spectacle here.
